Environment and Sustainability

Students and staff and OSA are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and raising awareness of the environmental issues we face today. We have an exciting range of projects open to all year groups from Year 7 to Year 13. Below you can see what we are currently working on at OSA and how you can get involved.

Eco-Schools

This in an international award initiative which helps to promote sustainability in schools. On successful completion of the scheme, we will receive our Green Flag and status as an Eco School. Students from the group have spoken in assemblies and presented to the Senior Leadership Team, and are going forward with plans to improve environmental sustainability at the school. More information about this project can be seen at the following address: https://www.eco-schools.org.uk

Student Environmental Association (SEA)

OSA has a strong group of students passionate about the environment and they have created the Student Environmental Association. This is for students who are interested in meeting with other like-minded students and are passionate about climate and environmental action. They hold regular meetings during term time.

OSA Allotment Garden

This term we shall be maintaining our allotment garden where students will be able to help grow plants and produce which can then be used on site and to promote wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle. We will also be looking to increase biodiversity across the school site by including features such as bug hotels. We are always looking to welcome donations of any gardening equipment and supplies in good condition such as gloves, trowels, compost, seeds, trugs, kneeling pads etc. If you would like to help contribute to this project then please do get in touch!
