Arrangements for COVID-19 testing 4th January 2022

We want to update you on the plans for COVID-19 testing in educational settings on return in January.

All secondary schools have been once again asked to test pupils once on-site on return in January. Testing continues to play a vital role in keeping COVID-19 out of schools. Testing all pupils in school boosts testing participation and will help reduce transmission after a period of social mixing over the school holidays. After this test on return, pupils should continue to test in line with government guidelines.

We will be offering all students ONE on-site lateral flow test on Tuesday 4th January. Students will need to attend school at the allocated time slots for their year group. After testing students will leave site and return home.

The 90-day window after a positive test

If someone has tested positive with a PCR test, they should not do another PCR test within 90 days of their positive result, unless: they develop new symptoms of Covid-19 – in which case they should be retested immediately using PCR. This 90-day period is from the initial onset of symptoms or, if asymptomatic when tested, their positive test result.
