Shortening of the School Day

Dear Parents

The consultation for the change of the school day has closed.  We have had a total of 469 responses, 350 of which in favour of the change and 114 against.  Overall that is in favour of shortening the school day of 75% of the total responses, 67% of these were from parents, 73% from staff and 79% from students.  There was overwhelming support for Friday as the best day for the shortened day.  41 people preferred Monday, 64 preferred Wednesday and 296 preferring Friday.

This positive response, (plus the positive response following the slight alteration to the internal workings of the day allowing for a 10 minute break between lessons 2 and 3), as well as a positive response from the trust and governors means that we will go ahead with a shorter school day on Friday ending at 2.30pm from September 2017.

Just a reminder of the amendments to the original consultation; Fish and chip Friday moves to Thursday.  There will be a more limited menu on a Friday.
